Those of you who are familiar with the Whistler’s live music programming and Whistler Records are undoubtedly familiar with bassist/composer Matt Ulery. Matt’s band, Loom, played the first ever show at the Whistler on October 8th, 2008, and a few months after that we released a 10” single for their song “The Queen” — which is still one of my all-time favorite pieces of music. To date, Loom has played at the Whistler 27 times(!) and they have a short residency coming up in September. And did I mention Matt also plays bass in In Tall Buildings? He is one seriously talented (and busy) guy.

Matt has a new double CD, By a Little Light, out this week on Greenleaf Music and he’s celebrating the release with shows tonight and tomorrow at the Green Mill. Do yourself a favor and go — you’ll be rewarded with music from one of Chicago’s most talented artists.
